Phone system
Your numbers
The Numbers tab lists the phone numbers your business has in BE Voice and what answers each one. It's the quickest way to send a number's calls somewhere.
What's on the Numbers tab

- Number
- The number as you'd dial it in Australia (03 7000 0000), and underneath in international form (+61370000000).
- Phone line
- The phone line the number comes in on. Managed by us means we look after the line for you; if you bring your own line, its name shows here. See Phone lines.
- What answers
- Where calls to this number go. You can change it here, straight away.
Choose what answers a number
- Open Numbers.
- Find the number and open the drop-down under What answers.
- Pick where its calls should go. A message confirms the change, for example "03 7000 0000 updated – from the next call."
The change applies from the next call. There's nothing else to save or publish.
The choices
- Nothing (calls are not answered)
- Calls to the number aren't answered. Only use this for a number you don't want in use yet.
- AI agent
- Your AI agent answers every call. "(default)" marks your default agent. See AI agents.
- Ring group
- Rings several phones, together or one after another. See Ring groups.
- Queue
- Callers wait on hold for the next free person. See Queues.
- Extension
- Rings one phone, for example "Extension 101 – Front desk". See Phones and extensions.
- Call routing rules
- A set of rules you've built on the Routing tab, by name (for example "Main line"). Use these for opening hours, holidays, or a backup when nobody answers.
Show your number when staff call out
When someone makes an outside call from one of your phones, the person they call sees the number set on that phone as its caller ID. To show your business number:
- Open Phones → + Add phone.
- Under Calls out showing, pick your number.
Only numbers that are allowed to be shown as caller ID appear in that list. If a number you'd like to show isn't there, contact us. A phone set to No outside calls can only call other extensions in your business. See Phones and extensions.
Add or remove a number
To add a new number, bring an existing number over to BE Voice, or stop using one, contact us and we'll set it up for you.
